i wonder why wincent colaiuta does not mention userland's frontier in his article about macos x for web developers... on the second page he states "if you wanted to do any of these things [ie. run cgi scripts or interface with databases, and provide sufficient performance; p3k], you had to turn to one of the few third-party offerings on the market, such as the commercial webstar or the freely available machttp".

now, does userland do bad marketing or does mr colaiuta do bad research?

tomorrow local city tv station tiv will be 2 years old. happy birthday.

will the next bloggerparty be hosted by heroes instead of stortroopers?

yesterday at b72, vienna: contriva. a perfect concert.

i did not know anything about those four guys (in a hermaphrodic sense) at all and so i was surprised very positively. well, it was one of the best concerts i have seen recently (and i was not at many in the last time). but this band is such a perfect sensation, they made cold shivers of pleasure running down my back. and i could not get off a big grin from my face during their performance. even their names have prickly tunes: max punktezahl, masha qrella, hanns lehmann and rike schuberty. as if they came from the past but already knew the music of the future. however, contriva, you won another big fan!

valerie koch is "sophie, sissi's little sista" on german tv. i wish those piefkes would not spell sisi wrong all the time...

strange, it's not that i could say i know her (ie. valerie koch, not sophie), but we both went to the same school and once our ways intersected when she sung at a rehearsal of a band i joined in the eighties.

it's a striking illustration of time passing by to see once youthful neighbours growing up this way. i am curious what pia will say, as far as i remember she really knew (or even still knows) valerie pretty well...

btw: those pictures were made three years ago which accidentally underlines how "time is floating like a river to the sea 'til it's gone forever" – alan parsons project. i just wonder what happened to the ascii image on the start page...? in my browser it looks corrupted.

the vienna-based delta scuti network measures seismologic activity of stellar objects and transforms the result to the sound of distant stars.

and that twangs like this...

i was extremely fascinated by astronomy when i was younger. although i never wanted to become an astronaut (nor did i care about ufos) i was pretty occupied with the latest astrophysical theories (mainly because their concepts appeared so weird and unimaginable to me) and dreamt of lonely days in a desert observatory...

when i took the chance to join an astronomy class in school, however, i was disenchanted by too much algebra and my interest fell silent.

yesterday, while hannes explored the (entertaining) outgrowth of compaq's product liability, i was looking for a help file in microsoft's knowledge base – which is not less amusing: i think i will be pretty stunned when my computer randomly plays classical music.

however, my problem was that i could not connect from a newly installed win2k machine to my old nt4 oldtimer. but fortunately there was an article to solve this issue, too.

some rant about an old, old story: i wish somebody would start to log the unspeakable semantic outbursts the sobriety-twisted minds of institutionalised media theorists (aka art clerks) rape the poor receipient with. no matter where i look at – synworld, phonotaktik, stealing eyeballs – i find hilarious ideas and tendentiously stupid words in disguise with artificial terminology and a super-arrogant tone of voice.

recent example is ars electronica guy gerfried stocker (again) and the latest of his nocturnal emissions for this year's aec event which almost surpasses konrad becker's nonsense creations.

"die veränderten rahmenbedingungen künstlerischen arbeitens und wirkens in unserer von informations- und kommunikationstechnologien bestimmten welt haben neue formen der kunst verursacht."

while this intro is not so far from being acceptable, the real bullshit starts in the next sentence:

"signifikant ist die verlagerung ihrer präsenz in sphären außerhalb des kunstbetriebs und zunehmend auch in das für die medienkunst geo-kulturelle neuland der emerging economies. der digitalen revolution folgt ein creativity burst, der als qualitatives phänomen weit über die zunahme derer hinaus geht, die an gestalterischen aufgaben und herausforderungen im professionellen wie amateurhaften milieu arbeiten."

and it goes on like this... who is willing to read any further can read the whole text (in english it's probably not that bad unless you are a native speaker).

however, i've read enough and hence nominate mr stocker as a favorite candidate for this year's drool award.

omni outliner: "we are working to make a tool with all the fun of symantec's much-loved and missed more application for mac os, but we're going to be adding new features in later versions that no outliner has ever had."

a new operating system, a new chance for unknown names on the software market...

hello, world!
